From Island to Island E-mail

Well, once more I've headed overseas. Last Tuesday saw me take to the skies as I crossed a couple of continents and oceans to land back in Maui. Leaving Bath, my family and friends, I found my way back to a small, heavily isolated spit of land where, for some reason, God has decided to do things with me. This is a place of great growth, challenge and blessing. But far from seeking the place of God for comfort I’m back in Maui simply to seek God.

This year has been an interesting year for me. A bit of an “oo-er” year with moments that had me wondering about all manner of things. I’ve been all over the place, and back again. God is good, eh? He is faithful above all things. There’s a lesson in nearly every event in life, if only we are willing to learn it. That has been pretty much a re-occurring thought to me these last few months.

So, while I’m in Maui I’ll be helping with what I can, keen to work with YWAM Maui as I believe so deeply in their version – to see the nations transformed. I’ll also be looking around for other opportunities. There’ll be time spent praying and planning for the next stage of my life. I’ll have a chance to contribute and to receive – to join in again with this expression of the church that is so heavily evidenced by His breath of life.

And when you think of me, shoot out a prayer – and stay in touch! There’s a variety of ways to keep in touch, not least through this website. Wherever you are, may you be blessed with the strength and tools to accomplish what has been given to you. This world is our mission-field and there’s oh so much to do. If you don’t know what’s out there, pray and ask, and He will reveal great things to you!

Well once again, dear friends it is, as always, onwards and upwards …

Radar Screens and the New Website E-mail

28th December 2008Well, we've passed the 5-month mark to the wedding! It hit me square the other day. Suddenly what was a vague event at 'the end of the year' suddenly popped up on my radar. And take it from me, this 'blip' I now have before me is as large as they come.

But no, I'm not freaking out. Actually, I relish this. There's a lot of planning involved (obviously) and a number of goals to achieve. There's the wedding and all that entails, but then there's so much more ... The fun of marrying a foreign citzen takes precedent. Wherever we land in January one of us will need to fill out all that paperwork securing rights to live and work in that country. Oh yes, work! One of us (hopefully the one moving) will need to find new work. There'll be accomodation to find, a car (I'm really hoping for that Mini with the custom US flag on the left-mirror and the Union flag on the other) and then all the other trimmings. I'm not a materialist but things in my life definatley have a material focus at the moment.

So there's lots going on. To aid in this, our wedding website - www.elizabethandjonathan.com - is now showing a little more information and will continue to develop over the coming dates. As invitations flutter out to our friends and families we'll add more information online such as directions, nearby accomodation and other useful ditties. So, check out the site, bookmark it, make it your home-page etc. It's cute.

And ps. - for those of you (just like me) who still think we're somewhere near the beginning of the year, psst. - it's August in a couple of days ...

All Clear E-mail

On Wednesday I visited the hospital for the last time to meet with a surgeon. The news came back that the surgery from January has in fact healed and is doing well. No further surgery is needed at this time! The news is, as you can imagine, what I had hoped for.

So nearly 6 months to the day the All Clear has been sounded. A rough ride that afforded me more sight of myself than I had wanted (in more than one way). I want to thank you all for your prayers and kind thoughts throughout this little journey. I have learnt more of myself, this world, and the inside world of hospitals and their staff (which has on the whole earned my great respect).
